Solarlux’s winning streak continues: the company’s products have once again won the German Design Award. In fact, this year’s jury was impressed with two Solarlux innovations: the Woodline bi-folding door and the SDL Acubis glass canopy.
The wooden design with the “wow” factor
The Woodline bi-folding door combines incredibly slender wooden profile sight lines with sophisticated engineering to create an innovative system that raises both the inside and outside of a building to a new level. Its slim, edged wooden cross-sections – the only ones of their kind on the market – make the Woodline a truly modern architectural design feature. The frame profiles are made exclusively using premium timber from certified, sustainable forests. The composite aluminium hinge built into the wooden profile gives the product outstanding structural reinforcement and thermal insulation. The result? A top-quality bi-folding door to match even the finest premium furniture. This quality also has made the Woodline the jury’s choice for the German Design Awards – a real winner.
A flat canopy for design purists
The SDL Acubis glass canopy, a new addition to the Solarlux product portfolio this year, received the “Special Mention” award. Its main draws are its filigree design and high level of adaptability, which make it perfect for use with cubic building styles. Its slender 25 cm facing is made possible by its slim rafters, safety glass and roof pitch of just 2°. Built-in lighting and shading round off the glass house, providing the perfect comfort experience. It also has a special trick up its sleeve: when combined with all-glass slide-and-turn elements, the canopy can be transformed into a spacious, accessible glass house that offers shelter from the wind and weather.
