Protecting forests is active environmental protection: PEFC is involved in forest conservation and ecological balance. Companies that are PEFC-certified show a certain level of commitment to the environment and responsibility with regard to using wood as a precious commodity and raw material. PEFC is holistic sustainability; an integrative concept that brings together ecological, social and economic aspects. PEFC also guarantees a controlled processing chain: independently monitored, fully traceable, and sustainable – from our certified forests to wood-processing businesses and on to the end product on the shelf.
The mission of the FSC is to establish internationally recognised standards for the economical, ecological and socially sustainable management of the world's forests. To this end, the FSC has set out ten principles for the stewardship of all the world's forests. The FSC logo guarantees that all steps (forest management, logging, processing, transport and sales) adhere to the FSC's criteria. The FSC logo indicates to the consumer that the wood products come from sustainable forest management in accordance with the internationally recognised FSC guidelines. The aim is to increase demand for wood with an environmentally friendly and socially responsible provenance.
The service portfolio offered by Kiwa comprises analysis, testing and certification. Kiwa has certified Solarlux to ISO 9001, and in 2010 to ISO 14001 as well. This quality management standard describes which requirements must be met by the management of a company in order to fulfil a specific quality standard.
SHR is an independent research institute, which performs technical and scientific tests for the wood processing industry and its suppliers. Folding glass doors made of wood are tested here for burglary resistance, air permeability and resistance to driving rain and wind.
The CE mark (CE = Conformité Européenne) is an indication of product safety. It represents a declaration by the manufacturer that the product complies with EC directives and all pertinent requirements. All Solarlux heat-insulated folding glass doors and fixed elements bear the CE mark so that its business and trade partners have the assurance that all products meet safety requirements.
